Lanham is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Prince George's County, Maryland. As of the 2020 United States Census it had a population of 11,282. The Thomas J. Calloway House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The New Carrollton station (the terminus of the Washington Metro's Orange Line) as well as an Amtrak station are across the Capital Beltway. Doctors Community Hospital is located in Lanham. Residents of Lanham CDP are divided between James McHenry Elementary School and Seabrook Elementary School. All residents are zoned to Thomas Johnson Middle School and DuVal High School. There is a private Catholic school, Academy of Saint Matthias the Apostle. The U.S. Postal Service operates the Lanham Seab rook Post Office in Lan Ham CDP. The community is home to 2U, Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, reverse logistics company Optoro, software company Vocus, media company Radio One and publisher Rowman & Littlefield. Lanham has a total area of 3.6 square miles (9.2 km²), of which 3.5 square miles is land and 0.02 square miles, or 0.05 km², is water. History
Lanham is the primary city name, but also Glenarden, Lanham Seabrook, Seabrook are acceptable city names or spellings. The Thomas J. The CDP is home to the National Park Service's Lanham Park, which is located in the north of the town. It is the site of the Lanham Airport, which was built in the early 1900s. The Lanham River runs through the center of the city, and runs into the Potomac River in the south. It was once the source of the Rappahannock River, which flows through the town of Lanham and into the Maryland River. The Linn River, a tributary of the Littleton River, runs through Lanham, and was once a source of water for the Linn Creek area.
