Fort Gratiot Township is a charter township of St. Clair County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 11,108 at the 2010 Census. It is named for Fort Gratiots, an American fort located there off and on between 1814 and 1879. The Birchwood Mall and many big box stores are located in the township. The township is considered to be part of the Thumb of Michigan, which in turn is a subregion of the Flint/Tri-Cities. It has a total area of 16.1 square miles (42 km²) The city of Port Huron is adjacent to the southeast. The name Keewahdin is likely derived from Kewadin, a famous Ojibwe leader. It was a station on the Pere Marquette Railway from March 1891 until March 1906. A post office operated from March 1889 to March 1906, when it was replaced by a post office. The town is located on Lake Huron at 43°0223N 82°2640W, and it is located near the center of the state. The Township has a population of 10,691, with 4,076 households, and 2,946 families as of the census of 2000. History
Fort Gratiot Township was established in 1867. It is named for General Charles Gr atiot, the engineer who laid out the fort. The township is located in the central part of the state. It has a population of about 2,000. The town is located on the shores of Lake Huron, which is a tributary of the Ohio River. It was named after General Gratiots, who laid the fort out in the early 1800s.

It is located on the shores of the lake and is home to a number of tourist attractions, such as the Michigan Museum of Natural History and the Michigan Science Center. The population of the township is 1,716. It has a land area of 16.1 sq miles (42 km²), of which 0.04sq miles (0.10km²) is land and 0.19sq miles(0.4km²), or 0.4% of the total area, is water. The city is located near the lake's southwestern shore. It was founded in 1838. The name Fort Gratiots comes from the French word for "fort" or "fence" which means "hill" and means "place" in French. The township is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, which connects to New Jersey and New Jersey via a series of tunnels and bridges. The New Jersey Department of Transportation runs a bus service between the township and the city of Trenton, which runs on a different route from Trenton to Trenton. It is not known if the township has a rail link to the New York City subway system. The nearest Amtrak station is located in Trenton and is about 20 miles (30 kilometers) away. The closest airport is in TrentON, which is about 30 miles (50 kilometers) from the township, and is on the opposite side of the Delaware River. The Pennsylvania Department of Health runs a rail line between TrentON and Trenton that connects the two cities.
